The Gonstead System is unique because it is thorough and specific in analyzing and adjusting the spine. Using the five Gonstead criteria to find vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments producing nerve interference), which causes ill health, or disease of the body. The manner in which the follow criteria are performed depend on each individual’s situation, health, and time restrictions. It is easy to schedule when you call (830) 896-9633.
During the consultation, Dr. Jackson goes over your case history to find out what kind of problems or discomforts you have been experiencing and how you have been treating your body. Auto accidents, hard falls, and other traumas or injuries are important information in evaluating your spine and overall health.
Gonstead X-rays are necessary to visualize the spine as a whole. This is helpful in evaluating for disease processes (arthritis, osteoporosis, etc.), fractures, posture, joint and disc degeneration. Also, these x-rays provide crucial insights into the direction of vertebral misalignments. Dr. Jackson will then study and mark your x-rays.
Instrumentation
The Gonstead Chiropractor uses a dual probed instrument called the Nervoscope, which detects uneven distributions of heat along the spine. Dr. Jackson will use this instrument before each adjustment in order to assess where and when to adjust. The Nervoscope feels like 2 fingers lightly gliding down the spinal column.
Static Palpation: The spine, when subluxated will send warning signals to your body. To detect these warning signals the Gonstead chiropractor will feel for the presence of swelling (edema) tenderness and tightness in muscles.
Motion Palpation: this type of exam involves feeling the spine while motioning the spine in various positions to determine if it is moving correctly. Lack of movement is one of the signs of subluxation.
Visualization: This requires a high degree of skill and experience: it is a way to detect subtle changes in posture, walking and other movements.
After using these comprehensive methods of analysis, Dr. Jackson will have a clear understanding of how and where to adjust your spine. This tailored approach ensures that only the specific problem areas are addressed, all with the utmost care and gentleness.
